Yeosu

Live Out Your K-Dreams

Up until 2012, few Koreans, let alone tourists, realized how gorgeous Yeosu truly is. However, when the city hosted the World Expo in 2012, the world quickly discovered one of South Korea's most stunning destinations. With numerous hikes offering sea views at the top, beautiful temples, and islands to explore, Yeosu warmly welcomes travelers. The city is also renowned for having some of the best seafood in South Korea. Have you ever tried marinated raw crab? It's a local delicacy you must experience! Just three and a half hours from Seoul, Yeosu should definitely be on your bucket list.

Explore the city of Yeosu

While Yeosu offers plenty of rural charms, don't miss the beautiful spots within the city itself! We recommend visiting Yi Sun Shin Park, where you can encounter history firsthand by exploring the famous turtle ship, used in battles throughout the 1800s.

Since hosting the World Expo in 2012, the city has become home to the Expo Park and the Big O, both of which always have something interesting on display, so be sure to check them out. You can also easily reach the manmade island of Odongdo (오동도) and spend the day surrounded by lovely camellia flowers, best viewed from November to April.

P.S. For adrenaline enthusiasts, sign up for a paragliding session and enjoy stunning views of the sea and mountains below!

Dolsan Island

The largest island in Yeosu, Dolsan is a must-visit for every traveler. This rural island offers numerous hiking paths with stunning views. For more adventure, take the cable car to Dolsan and enjoy panoramic scenery. Alternatively, walk across the beautifully illuminated Dolsan Bridge, a must-see sight, especially in the evening.

Beaches

Ungcheon (웅천) is one of Yeosu's most popular beaches, known for its stunning scenery, beautiful waters, water sports, and excellent local cuisine. However, it can get crowded in the summer. Mosageum (모사금) is another great spot for sunbathers and swimmers looking to soak up the summer rays. For something different, visit Manseongri (만성리) Beach, which features unique, shiny black sand. It's perfect for sightseeing and photos, but be cautious in the summer as the black sand can become extremely hot.

Angels Mural Village

No South Korean city is complete without an alley adorned with local art, and Yeosu’s Angels Mural Village is a prime example. This vibrant area immerses visitors in a whimsical, animated world, perfect for photo ops and a taste of Korean culture. Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with a coffee from one of the quaint alley cafes and make sure to visit the top for stunning 360-degree city views!

Hyangiram Temple

The most renowned temple in Yeosu, Dolsan Temple, has earned its reputation for good reason. Founded 1,400 years ago, this small temple sits on a rocky coast at the end of Dolsan Island. As one of South Korea’s four Buddhist hermitages, it features seven cave stones that, according to legend, grant wishes to those who pass through them. While the hike up offers rewarding views of the sparkling blue sea and surrounding islands, the temple is also accessible by public transport.

P.S. The temple was featured in the 2017 K-drama Temperature of Love.

Yeongchwisan Mountain

If you're in South Korea in April, don’t miss the chance to see Yeongchwisan Mountain covered in vibrant red azaleas, the country’s famed spring flower. The bright red blooms and their delightful fragrance create a stunning spectacle. From the mountain top, you can enjoy panoramic views of the vast sea and the first rays of spring sunshine. This picturesque location has also served as a filming site for popular Korean dramas like The King’s Affection and Secret Garden.
