Tongyeong
Live Out Your K-Dreams 🇰🇷
A small city located close to Busan, Tongyeong is a popular weekend destination between the locals. It is not only its proximity to Busan that attracts people, but also it’s stunning natural beauty, the charm of the local fishing village and deliciously fresh seafood served daily. It is also part of the Hallyeohaesang National Park, one of the most stunning parks in South Korea!
Gangguan Port
Being the main port of Gangguan, it is no wonder that most of the shops, restaurants and markets are located around it. We’d especially recommend visiting it during the dusk, when the place becomes the most lively.
Mireuksan Mountain
A stunning place offering 360 degree views of Tongyeong and Hallyeohaesang National Park. The mountain has both: a beautiful hiking trail and a stunning 10-minute cable car ride up to the top. Down the bottom, you can also visit the stunning Donghwasa Temple, which was built all the way back in 632!
Jungang Traditional Market
Located right across the street from Gangguan Port, the Jungang Traditional Market offers a great experience on its own. There, you can not only pick your own fish and watch it being cleaned on the spot, but you can also grab a table and enjoy the raw fish on the made right there!
Dongpirang Village
Marked for demolition back in 2007, the local students soon took the matter into their own hands and painted it with the stunning wall murals. Ever since, the place became too beautiful to tear down, and even more, it is now one of the most beautioful areas of the city, with a number of cozy cafes offering a stunning view of the Gangguan Port and the sea.

Yi Sun-Sin Park
Admiral Yi Sun-Sin (1545-1598) is a highly respected national hero who led numerous battles against the Japanese navy to victory. Thus, across Korea you can find many tributes to Admiral Yi, ranging from the shop names, shrines and public parks. The park is worth a visit for both- nature and history lovers, as it offers not only an insight into Korean history, but also the beautiful views of the coast.
Tongyeong Skyline Luge
Great for the adrenaline seekers, the Skyline Luge will give you an opportunity to ride a cart down the decent, around various twists, turns and even tunnels! It is a great way to spend some time with your friends and family.
For those having a sweet tooth, Tongyeong might be the city you’ll want to stay in forever. Their local specialty Ggul bbang 통영꿀빵 (Honey bread) will leave you wanting more. Similar to doughnut, which was first made during the Korean Civil War, the bread is filled with sweet potatoes or mashed red beans, with a honey topping cover its surface.
