Haeinsa Temple
One of Koreaâs largest temples, the Haeinsa Temple was founded by two monks back in 802. The name of the temple means âtruly enlightened world of Buddha and our naturally undefiled mindâ. There, you can not only find the enshrined Janggyeongpanjeon and Tripiraka Koreana, but also over 15 public treasures as well as some 200 private treasures enshrined too!
Gayasan National Park
Home to Haeinsa Temple, the Gayasan was designed as a national park back in 1972. The peak stands as high as 1,430 meters above sea level, and is regarded as a mountain with some of the best natural sceneries across South Korea. The park holds various hiking paths ranging from 1.3km to 5.3km in length.
Hwangmaesan Country Park
Apart from its stunning scenery, the park is praised by many for its unpopularity by the locals or tourists alike. Thus, if you are looking for a path less traveled by, make sure to visit Hwangmaesan and youâll discover its lush greenery and untouched natural beauty in its natural form.
Tripitaka Koreana
The most complete collection of Buddhist laws, treaties and texts that exist today. Engraved on 80,000 woodblocks in the year of 1237-1248, the tripitaka has shaped the religion for almost 1,000 years. No wonder, the place gets lots of attention from scholars, Buddhist pilgrims, as well as history and art lovers.
Hapcheon movie theme park
This movie theme park has increasingly gained its popularity among Koreans and tourists alike, thanks to the famous K-dramas being filmed there. The set is divided in two, as they are owned by the major Korean broadcasting companies KBS and MBC, making it one of the largest film set studio in Korea!
