Jirisan
1Jirisan has been believed to have Korean people's vigor and spirit being one of 3 mountains of God, together with Geumgangsan and Hallasan. The mountain's name, 'Jirisan' was named with meaning 'even a fool becomes a wise man’. In the Buddhist society, the mountain is called as 'Bangjangsan' as the mountain brings enlightenment and spiritual awakening. Jirisan Mountain runs through various counties with 45km length between Cheonwangbong Peak and Nogodan and 700 km boundary around its area. The mountain is home to many wild animals in the peninsula including Korean local bears and many endangered animals too! There are a number of trails available for the hikers, and the stunning scenery from up above will definitely leave you in awe!
Sanglim Park
Sanglim's beauty is spread all year round, as it has a young and light summer forest, making it a stunning scenery throughout the autumn's colors or winter’s whites. In the summer, the forest offers one a stunning scenery to relax and lie down under the trees and refresh yourself. Sanglim has over 120 different kinds of trees and 1.6 km long bank providing a great place for children's education of nature too.
Gibaeksan Mountain
The mountain has a lot of big and small valleys with scenic points, deep valleys and abundant water, great features of mountain surrounded by magnificent shapes of rocks from Samwonjeong to Yongchu waterfall, and the fields of reeds. The main climbing courses are Yongchusa (Temple), Yongchugyegok (Valley), Yongchu waterfall, and around the Shimwonjeong, rocks and old pine trees harmonize together.
Byeoksongsa Temple
The last temple of Haeinsa, the Byeoksongsa Temple was founded at the end of the Silla Kingdom. In the temple, you can find Byeoksongsa three-storied pagoda of Treasure No. 474, Byeoksong Mok Jangseung of Folk Material, Byeoksong Dangjieom Portrait of Gyeongsangnam-do Tangible Cultural Properties and many more. It is a true gem for those interested in Buddhism and temples.
Jirisan Dullye-gil
'Dullye-gil' literally means a road or trail going around mountain. Jirisan Dullye-gil is about 300km long walking trail connecting many roads in mountains, rice fields, villages and river shores covering more than 100 villages in 5 cities and districts. The section of the trail going through Hamyang-gun includes banks, farming roads and forest trails connecting various towns for walkers to feel free to view the villages, mountains and valleys in the district.
Seoamjeongsa Temple
Harmonizing with natural rocks, it is located only 600m from Byeoksongsa temple, making it possible to visit both temples at once. There, you can find numerous Buddha’s engraved in the natural rocks, making it a place like no other. No wonder this precious temple is of high interest not only amongst Buddhists, but also archeologists and historians too.
Wood-cultivated Ginseng can be found aplenty in Mayang-gun. Its ginseng is grown after planting its seed in a high mountain between 700 and 800 meters of height. The only difference from a wild ginseng is that a wild ginseng's seed is planted by a bird discharging droppings while Wood-Cultivate Ginseng is planted by human hands. Wood-Cultivate Ginseng is often called Wild-Grown Ginseng.
